Traces of Gaze
Traces of Gaze는 오디오 비주얼 기반의 실시간 생성 이미지를 디지털 프린팅으로 고정한 작품이다. 소리의 파형과 리듬에 반응하며 생성되는 궤적들은 순간적으로 나타났다가 사라지는 시각적 사건이며, 본 작업은 그 흐름을 하나의 정지된 이미지로 포착한다.
작품 속 붉은 선들은 데이터가 만든 흔적이자, 감각이 남긴 잔상처럼 화면 위를 반복적으로 쌓인다. 이는 완성된 형태라기보다 생성 과정 자체가 남긴 기록이며, 관객은 그 기록을 따라가며 이미지의 중심을 추적하게 된다.
Traces of Gaze는 무엇을 명확히 재현하기보다, 시선이 머무르고 지나가는 방식 자체를 시각화한다. 끊임없이 반복되는 궤적 속에서 우리는 확신이라 믿었던 형태가 얼마나 쉽게 흐려지고 해체되는지를 마주하게 된다.
Traces of Gaze
Traces of Gaze is a work that fixes real-time generative images based on audio-visuals into digital printing. The trajectories generated in reaction to the waveform and rhythm of sound are visual events that appear momentarily and disappear; this work captures that flow as a single still image.
The red lines in the work are traces made by data and, like afterimages left by sensation, accumulate repeatedly on the screen. This is a record left by the generation process itself rather than a completed form, and the audience traces the center of the image by following that record.
Traces of Gaze visualizes the very way the gaze lingers and passes, rather than clearly reproducing something. In the endlessly repeating trajectories, we encounter how easily forms we believed to be certainties blur and deconstruct.
